Montgomery County is responsible for the collection of trash from 85,000 homes, primarily in the southern part of the county. This service is provided through contracts with independent trash collection companies. All other single-family houses and townhouses in the county have trash collection provided by private haulers. If collection is suspended because of snow or other severe weather, trash will be picked up the next day or as soon as possible. Residents can call 240-777-6410 for information on collections during bad weather. The county also provides once-a-week curbside recycling collection service to all residents of single-family houses and townhouses, except for those in municipalities. For information on the recycling day in an area, call 240-777-6410.
